Research & Innovation
Solve real urban challenges with open data
About this umbrella
Resilience Academy's research and innovation stream connects students and university staff to real urban problems and cutting-edge partners, de-risking new data and technology while generating research from Climate Risk Database data.
It runs through three mechanisms: an MSc thesis-scholarship pipeline (up to 13 students a year, paid against milestones, each depositing their data in the CRD); research-and-innovation pilots with partners such as ICEYE, DLR and MindEarth; and the annual Data Visualisation Challenge (since 2019), where student teams tackle client-set problems — urban greening, drainage, litter, water security — on CRD data and deposit the winning datasets back into it.
Programmes under this umbrella
Each programme is a distinct placement track with its own skills, host organisations and year-by-year record.
No programmes are attached to this umbrella yet — they’ll appear here (and the stats above will roll up) as programmes are added.
