Digital Micro-Tasking
Build digital skills through paid online geo-tasks
About this umbrella
Digital micro-tasking is Resilience Academy's fourth service: it breaks geospatial data work into small online tasks that young people — often industrial-training alumni — complete for micro-payments through mobile money. It is particularly efficient for partners and clients who need to collect and validate digital data at scale, while giving youth flexible income and a pathway to digital micro-credentials.
The flagship “Cash for Digital Work” pilot (2020), with the World Bank, MindEarth and DLR, had 115 active young workers validate 159,490 street-view images — over 1.3 million labels — to build DLR's World Settlement Footprint-3D. At roughly USD 0.095 per image it was about 68% cheaper than commercial crowd-work platforms, with quality tracked through consensus scoring.
