This module focuses on flood mapping, modelling and predictions. The course consists of different practicals, lectures and other interactive content, which allows you to use different learning techniques while getting familiar with the subject. Learning objectives After this course, you will be able to: - understand the concepts of flood hazard, exposure and vulnerability, and differences between different flood mapping approach. These include simple 2D static GIS flood hazard zoning, 2D hydrodynamic flow models, and 1D-2D hydro-dynamic flow models. - name what typical use case and under what geographical conditions those 3 approaches should (not) be used. - analyze and hydrologically manipulate Digital Terrain Models, and schematize 2D and 1D-2D flow models using treated terrain data and simple GIS vector datasets of streams - run 2D and 1D-2D models by applying boundary conditions
