About this program

This is the program under the Open Data for Resilience - theme. In here, we dive deep to the topics of data quality, metadata and data sharing, via interesting practicals and the supporting background theory. Stories, quizzes and reading materials help you to get closer to the subject and feel motivated through this online module. In three submodules, you will go through different themes: Geospatial Data Quality, Metadata and Data Sharing in Climate Risk Database. You will learn the principles, critical skills and good practices of geospatial data management and dissemination, including data description, maintenance, updating, quality assessment, and data sharing through an SDI, Geonode. After the completion of the module, you understand basic concepts related to geospatial data quality, management and dissemination. You are also able to analyse geospatial data quality, perform data management and share data via SDI. These include skills to create and assess metadata for different types of geospatial data sets, methods to assess the spatial and thematic quality of the data sets and techniques to upload and share geospatial data through an SDI. This module takes about 50 hours to complete and you need some previous knowledge on the subject of Basic skills related to geospatial and GIS, and QGIS software. NOTE! If you are doing industrial training, you will get more information from your teacher and you don't have to do the whole module.
