This module is about the basics of Ubuntu Linux and consists of three practicals, theory and additional reading materials. Practicals teach you step-by-step through different stages of using the software: installation, basic commands and the concept of the system.
Learning objectives:
You will learn an overview of the following knowledge areas; Ubuntu Linux, learning the Shell and writing Shell Scripts, Office Suite on Ubuntu Linux and installation of applications on Ubuntu Linux.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Compare different sides of Ubuntu Linux to other operating systems such as windows
Be able to install the software and understand what Ubuntu Linux is, as one of the computer operating systems
Use the shell script (terminal) to familiarize and write commands that will perform different tasks on Ubuntu Linux
Install and operate software applications in Ubuntu Linux such as the office
Study Methods
Learning skills consist of how to install Ubuntu and execute basic commands of Ubuntu as well as Git and Docker concepts. After learning the concepts and the skills you are ready to apply your knowledge for the coming modules.
Prerequisite knowledge: Introduction to Computer and Operating System Concepts, Python Programming is an added advantage
