About this course

Students learn practical skills to turn a hazard map in a flood impact map within the already known QGIS interface. They will consolidate knowledge on the concept of hazard, exposure and vulnerability through use of their own flood hazard layers, produced in 4B. They will understand limitations of the used data layers, and concepts.

Recap on what “hazard”, “exposure” and “vulnerability” mean and that these combined entail risk.

Show relationship Ramani Huria data with exposure, show relationship module 4B with hazard

Introduce InaSAFE QGIS plugin, show where concepts of hazard, exposure and vulnerability enter the InaSAFE plugin

Demonstration of how a first impact map (affected buildings) can be prepared based on (screencast QGIS InaSAFE)
