The sub-module presents principles and concepts of climate change including: Earth’s radiation balance, observed climate change on different timescales (Paleoclimatology), Theories of climate change, global warming, glacial-interglacial cycles, and natural causes for climate variability. The student is encouraged to complete the sections in the given order, as this will help the student to learn the subject step-by-step and allows employing material from the earlier sections for the completion of the practical. The principles of the operation of the global climate model will be demonstrated through an assignment with the EdGCM climate model.
