Building Resilient Communities Through Geospatial Innovations
Resilience Academy connects talented youth with geospatial technologies and real-world climate challenges. By empowering students and communities to create, use, and share open data and knowledge, we are building resilient futures across Africa.

Our Story
From a project to a community
Most development projects end when the funding ends. Resilience Academy did the opposite.
It was founded as a project
The World Bank established Resilience Academy as the education and skills pillar of the Tanzania Urban Resilience Programme, to close two gaps at once: the missing local climate-risk data, and the missing digital skills among young people.
It became a community
When the programme cycle concluded, the Academy did not close. The universities signed an agreement to carry it forward and now steward it themselves, with a Secretariat
It is now a model that travels
Because the community and its services are real and valued, new partners fund them and new countries adopt them, from Tanga and Mwanza to Kenya and beyond.

Connecting people, data, and innovation to build resilient African cities.
We are connecting People, Data and Innovation through Resilience Academy Community of Practice (CoP) which supports collaboration, knowledge exchange and learning between individuals and organizations having passion to secure resilient urban development in Africa through youth engagement, community approaches, open geospatial data and digital tools.
This CoP is an initiative of the Tanzania Resilience Academy for transfer and scaling of Resilience Academy movement across Africa.
